I am just so happy with it October 10, 2009 jobae (CA, USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Last year, I bought a Large Moleskin lined journal book from Franklin Covey store. I used it on my trip to the Far East and loved using it to journal and keep important things on its back side pocket. This year, on my return trip, I went to WalMart and bought one that looked like Moleskin, but proved there's only one Moleskin.
Well, wanting to get the lined journal again for next year, I stumbled upon this Sketchbook. In fact, I bought both of them so that I could see what is so great about this one. I must say, I am incredibly impressed with it. The cover is solid and the thick yellowish paper is incredible to write on. I use it for my random thoughts -- titling them with color pencil and writing with ink -- I love the freedom to write however small or large, draw whenever I want to, box important thoughts and color freely. I love it that the paper is thick and w/o lines. I am thinking of getting another one for my trip to the Far East next year and wrap the lined one for a Christmas gift.
My wife took a look at my Moleskin sketchbook and what I was doing with it, and now she wants one! It's really great if you jot down thoughts -- I keep it with me wherever I go.
The paper has changed September 2, 2009 Jason S. Alexander 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I used these sketchbooks as long as I can remember. Now, the last 3 I've purchased all make my brush pens and calligraphy pens bead up and become maybe 50% opaque. The change in paper and the current Moleskins is just not good. I've had to switch brands after years.
Moleskine Large Sketchbook August 31, 2009 Poetic Dreams 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I ordered 4 of the large Moleskine sketchbooks. I do alot of mixed media art, and the paper in the book holds up really well. I recommend this moleskine to all my friends.
Watercolors and fountain pens stay away. July 30, 2009 John Braun (Earth) 4 out of 6 found this review helpful
Basically, the paper is nearly impermeable to water-based inks and watercolors. Gel pens, ballpoints, and pencils work OK. Otherwise, try to use a fountain pen (I used a couple Noodler's inks) / watercolors and the ink will bead up and look terrible. I can't imagine why they decided to use this paper, it sucks.
Cool sketchbook! June 18, 2009 Stephen Rustad (Petaluma, CA United States) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I bought this sketchbook for my art-student daughter, who wasted no time in filling the pages with lots of really good drawings. If a high-quality sketchbook inspires its owner to produce higher-quality work, then it's a bargain at twice the price.
