It's a GREAT value! November 14, 2009 RRS (PA USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I teach second grade and my students go through pencils like they were going out of style. My former sharpener wasn't able to do the job. This one is GREAT. If you need to sharpen a lot of pencils in no time, this one will work for you.
It Works November 11, 2009 D. J. Robbins 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought 2 of these for my classroom. They are quiet, sharpen quickly and well and easy for the young children to use. I'm very pleased.
So much quieter than my ex-wife!! November 10, 2009 Tom (Northern GA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
As an artist, I go through several sketching pencils a week. When my old sharpener started sounding quite nasty (like you-know-who), I did some online shopping and selected this one by Panasonic, a name I grew up with.

A Tad Technical, but I hope it helps others November 3, 2009 C. Dinakar (Presently in Dallas, TX) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I had bought this sharpener after extensive review of many available in the market. Panasonic actually makes good products, this one is no exception. However, a few units do suffer from bad electronic parts and those who get it are extremely unlucky. I also had a similar experience, after sharpening 75 pencils, the motor suddenly stopped. The manual referred to it as a thermal overload trip and asked to unplug and let the sharpener cool for an hour. Even after one day, the unit was not working. Being an engineer, I opened the unit and found that the thermal overload relay had burned instead of tripping the motor. Just replacing the same got the unit back to full working level and has been functioning smoothly. Actually, opening the unit is very simple. Just three screws and you are into the innards. Replacement of the relay is also very easy. Hope this helps those whose sharpener has broken down.
Quality product November 3, 2009 Tom (Massachusetts USA) We had an old electric sharpener that worked great for over 15 years until it just got overloaded. We had gotten a free manual pencil sharpener from Staples with a purchase there and it just did not work well. I wanted a good one that wasn't outrageously expensive but would last. So I picked this one. My kids use it to sharpen their pencils and it works great! Highly recommended.
