My girlfriend and I are huge nerds. She is in grad school 5 hours away in Indiana and I work in Lansing. Among other things, I bought 2 of these pens for Christmas so we could write letters to each other. The pens are great for letter writing on quality paper stock, but take a bit longer to dry than a typical ball-point pen on regular office paper (it's the nature of fountain pens). I also find that i use more ink with this pen than with others, but the refills are not expensive and easy to find. I've used this pen in meetings for a while, and it is funny to see executives from other companies look at my pen, then theirs, and then have their face appear withdrawn with a feeling of inadequacy because a kid straight out of undergrad has a MUCH nicer pen than they do.
My b.s. aside, it's a great pen, and for the price, an awesome 1st step into the world of having much nicer writing implements than your car or house.
