Commendable fan November 15, 2009 Noop (Long Island, NY) I have owned Vornado fans for many years, and they always have moved the air in a vortex, as advertised. This compact 3 speed air circulator effectively creates a current of air that not only propels a focused wind that sets the air in motion around the room but also provides some very pleasant white noise -- a soothing whirring sound. Mind you, I do not always get the full benefit of this fan because my dog, Dundee, plunks himself in front of it and lets the fan ruffle his fur big time, as he is doing right now...
Good fan, but too expensive October 19, 2009 R. A. Stapp (washington, dc USA) I got this one from Amazon as a replacement for the same model I bought in a brick and mortar store. Why did I need a replacement? Because less than a month after I bought the first one I managed to knock it over and one of the fan blades snapped off at the base (I couldn't return it because I had stupidly thrown away both the receipt and the packaging). So you may ask, if the fan is that fragile why buy another? Because it is a very powerful, very quiet fan when it works and I can't find another of the same size with the same amount of power anywhere and as long as I don't knock it over, it should last a long time.
Until I bought this Vornado, my previous fans for the past five or so years have all been Honeywells. The model I like has been discontinued and I don't like the new model at all. Despite the Vornado being more than twice as expensive, I decided to switch brands because I would rather have a fan with a lot of power that costs more, than a fan that doesn't do what I want.
I do think the fan is about $15 too expensive. It is hard to spend close to $40 for a small fan, no matter how well it works, but especially for one that breaks so easily.
Poor quality October 5, 2009 Fred Mendoza (Chicago) It was a great fan while it worked, but after only a month the on/off switch cracked and it was unusable. I used it in my office for about an hour after going to the gym because I'd still be hot. Well, 5 days a week for a month, means I turned it on 20 times and then off 20 times. 40 clicks and it was over.
Its "Cool" August 31, 2009 E. Gladding (Carnegie Mellon University) Purchased for a dorm room, actually creates the breeze mentioned on the box as it strikes the opposite wall, moves lots of air for a little fan and is quiet while doing it.
"Its cool"
Good product would suggest it.
An excellent fan and an excellent value August 22, 2009 Jeff Muscato (United States) I ordered one of these for my office and was so impressed by how quiet it is and how well it works that I ordered one to aim over the top of my stereo's amplifier to blow away hot air. (Quiet operation is essential for this use, and, on low, this fan is nearly silent.) Both have been on (usually on the low setting) continuously since I bought them and they've operated flawlessly.
I highly recommend this fan, or perhaps a larger model in the series for a big room. Even this little one really moves air well if you want gentle movement. As I understand, Vornado's design of the fan blades allows their fans to move air more efficiently than some lesser kinds.
