No complaints November 11, 2009 Newbie (Alabama) I purchased it to be used in my storm shelter if the electricity goes out. It looks like it will do the job.
Have not used it except to make sure it worked when I got it.
was very nice........until August 9, 2009 Corky Shark 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
It was a great fan when it was working.I was using my fan on a camping trip in my camper, when I smelled plastic melting. It was the fan where the on off switch is located, it was extremely hot and I went to unplug the adapter it too was also extremely hot. If I had left it plugged in, I am sure there would have been a fire. I am looking on line to see if there is any kind of recall of this fan.
Good thing to have for emergency July 2, 2009 Paul Lester 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This little fan is suprisingly powerful and fits in nicely with my stash of emergency items. It can get very hot where I live(Texas)and power outages seem to be more common then they used to be. This fan can be the difference between being merely uncomfortable and being truely miserable in the heat when the power goes out and the A/C goes with it.
poorly implemented concept, or just my bad luck? June 30, 2009 Chris Fisher 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I got this a couple of years ago... used it with the wall adapter for all of that time. I need a fan to sleep (for white noise) and thought this would be a bit cheaper to operate. Worked fine for a month or so, then started to speed up, then slow down - randomly. Soon after, the low switch mode doesn't work any longer - so now it's just on high speed. The random speed up / slow down still applies, and sometimes the fan won't work at all. I had thought this was due to the cheap wall adapter.
I went camping with it this last weekend - bought the 8 D cell batts for it... opened the batt compartment for the first time - the contacts are all rusted. I never stored this anywhere where this could happen - no high moisture level - anything like that. I covered the contacts with alum foil just to get the connections going for the night. The same random speed up / slow downs kept happening - guess I can't blame the wall adapter any longer.
In conclusion, this fan is a bit noisey, randomly chooses a speed (although low no longer works), required "fixing" to get batts to work. I would NOT buy it again.
I've read the other reviews here - maybe I just got a bad one...
Great Fan, Great Price May 22, 2009 A Reader 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
The fan works much better than any battery-operated fan I have had before, and is nice and large. It is not loud as some people here have said. When the batteries are in, there is significant heft to the bottom, which I think is a good thing as it keeps it very stable.
