If you want the durability and water proofness, choose Duck Brand tape. I was building silk screens, and wanted good smooth water proof tape. Duck brand comes in several colors so the items are decorative too. And it doesn't have a sticky residue like the gray stuff does. Tears easily by hand, and lays down smooth. The tape worked great in my application!
