nice thermostat, but honewell is being annoying August 21, 2009 Brad Bortner (Somerville, MA United States) This thermostat is great. However, it was only after I installed it and e-mailed a question to Honewell that I discovered that they think that this is a contractor only item. They refused to answer a simple question, and directed me to hire an hvac person. Since neither the box, nor the online store I bought this from make any reference to such a restriction, I believe their position is illegal, and am considering reporting them to the MA Attorney General's office (who has a special office to handle consumer fraud.). Still, nice thermostat...just an irritating company...
Easy To Use, Superb Accuracy, The Best Thermostat I've Ever Had! July 9, 2009 circawdm (Midwest, USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is simply the best thermostat for anyone wanting great accuracy, easy to use screen and programming, and other extras for efficiency and savings.
I've had two thermostats in the past 3 years, because I have a two story well insulated home with cathedral ceiling down, ceiling fans, and other things that can make some thermostats not be very accurate as to temperature, and of course "cycling" and "programming." In a state where it gets very warm in the summer and very cold in the winter, it's been a constant problem and irritation having unreliable and inaccurate thermostats. Not any longer with this Honeywell model!
I tested it with very sensitive electronic digital sensors, and it reads to within .5 degrees, which means it comes on to cool and cools down abit below where it is set, and it comes back on in plenty of time (but not too early) so it efficiently cools again. The same thing goes with heating. I don't need to constantly manually adjust the temp up or down because the thermostat is not reading correct temperatures and doing its job! It has yet to fail to turn on and off at the proper times to maintain the temperatures I want. Isn't that the true test of a very good thermostat?
The light up green touch screen is very easy to read, and it has handy little reminders for filter change, humidifier pad change, etc. Also there is a very nice "circulating fan" setting which, if selected, (versus using On or Auto settings) will have the fan run about 30-35% of the time, keeping the air circulating, and making for an even more accurate and efficient heat or cool cycle. Well worth the cost. I only wish I had it last winter. This is really a quality, accurate instrument with a good warranty. My family is very impressed and pleased with it!!
Set it and forget it! June 19, 2009 J. Tsai (Bellevue, WA) Great for keeping your heating bills down. You have the ability to set 4 different heating schedules for every day of the week. I set mine to heat in the mornings, off when we leave for work, heat for a few hours when we are at home, and off when we go to sleep. I replaced an older Honeywell unit with this one, and it was a cinch to do. Anyone should be able to replace this in about half an hour max. Be sure to buy some alligator toggle bolts. Or snap toggles.
Professional opinion April 24, 2009 Charles M. Terrizzi (Florida) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I am an Air conditioning technician for 9 years. The Vision PRO 8000 is the best thermostat ever made, in my opinion. It has auto-changeover, intelligent recovery, seven-day programming, hold, arm-chair programming, it is not cheap feeling like many thermostats you buy from home depot. It works with any system including two and three stage heat pumps. The touchscreen can be slightly non-responsive, although I have never had a callback or complaint with one of these thermostats. The one in our office is absolutely trouble free and saves us a lot of money and time. I cannot believe that Consumer Reports rated another brand higher, that brand does not have auto-changeover or work on heat pumps. We give a lifetime guarantee on these thermostats because they absolutely never(yet) break down.
Excellent Thermostat March 23, 2009 D. Larson (Chandler, AZ) I have used this thermostat for several months now and it is easy to program, has great features and works well.
