Bought this device to operate my new Mr. Heater garage furnace. It works great and allows a 40 degree setting which is just what I wanted. It even has a fan/auto switch to allow the heater to run with continuous fan when desired.

Following the installed directions, the unit was very easy to install and set. We labeled the wires as instructed and this was a good thing as our "green" wire was actually black so having them labeled helped allot. The tools I needed consisted of a very small and "normal" sized Phillips screw drivers, a small flat tip screw driver and and wire clippers. You will also need two AAA batteries. We did not time the installation but it took us much less than an hour. (Note: one of us is way above average mechanically and is a experienced DIY for mechanical, electrical and plumbing projects around the house and vehicles)
After installation we tested the unit and it worked perfectly for heating and cooling as well as manual fan operation. For us all the controls are straight forward to use.
We purchased this unit to have more precise heating and cooling control than the "Jantrol CHT18-60" installed in our home. Our HVAC system consists of a split central air-conditioner for cooling and strip heaters in the ducting for heating. (Not a heat pump)
We saw no need for a fancier programmable unit. So far the unit has provided the desired ease in setting and precision in maintaining temperature.

Easy to install, simplistic to use. Just select the desired unit, heater or aircon, then select the temperature. It holds within +/- 2° to 3°. No messing with programing of off/on, different temperatures, times and then having to do it all over again after you have made a manual change. Good for folks that have trouble setting the correct time on their VCR. Would be better if it had a back lighted LCD. Much better than the old mechanical thermostat.

Nice basic digital thermostat.
Manual heat/cool controls.
Manual fan control.
Digital adjustment of temperature that is accurate.
No backlight on ours, probably to save battery life.
Easy to install.
Great for replacing old mercury thermostats...please remember to dipose of mercury properly.

I replaced one of the old round bi-metal spring thermostats with the Honeywell RTH111B. The Honeywell works great and keeps the temperature where I set it. It has no "bells and whistles" as you'd expect for the price. Only thing I did not like is that the slide switch for Heat-Off-Cool is quite small and it's not always obvious at which position it's set.
