| • | Soldering Gun in a Jar Wire glue-the solution when you can't find the soldering iron, don't want to bother, are out in the woods, don't quite trust a fifth-grader with a hot gun, can't reach the connection with both hands, whatever. This stuff conducts low voltage AC and DC circuits in a permanent bond and is easy to use. Our high-tech support group suggests that a toothpick is a good way to apply it. Cures overnight. Our each is a 0.3 oz/9ml jar. |

the instructions say... July 23, 2009 Picky Consumer 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
It seems to work well enough. Its *very* runny, so if you have a number of repairs to make you'll probably have to make them one at a time and wait for each to dry before doing the next one. That can be time consuming. Because its so runny, its nearly impossible to just lay down a 'wire' of this stuff in a neat way. You can do it in a messy way though.
The instructions say:
-use pencil eraser or sandpaper and make the contact points "bright and shiny" first.
-mix thoroughly
-use stick or toothpick to apply
-takes several hours to dry
-for stronger bond, coat with super glue after its dry
-if the jar of wire glue starts to dry out, just mix in a few drops of water.
Great for special situations - does things solder can't March 28, 2009 David Lindbergh (Reading, MA USA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This is great stuff when you need to solder something that won't solder - for example onto battery tabs, which really need to be welded. Solder won't stick, but this stuff will.
It's not a replacement for solder in most applications, but it's a critical part of my soldering kit for times when solder won't do the job. Highly recommended.
Be aware - it doesn't seem to conduct until it's dried a bit, but then it works.
ridiculous product March 16, 2009 R. S. Cochran (dallas, tx United States) 1 out of 5 found this review helpful
I am not sure what you would use this product for. I attempted to wire an electric guitar with it, and ended up breaking out the solder gun. This stuff is crap, and wouldn't hold up well under normal use. Look at the products this seller offers, and you'll see that it is not for any serious buyers. Not recommended, I threw this product away.
Works as advertised February 26, 2009 D. Hiskey (Bellingham, WA United States) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I've used it for soldering solar cell tabs on and soldering them together and it works great. It's easy to be messy with it so you've got to be careful when applying it, but it's also easy to clean off before it dries, so if you make a mess you can wipe and re-apply.
The one annoying this is that it takes about two or three minutes before the bond starts to really hold, so you either have to hold the wires in place or use some clips or something for those first few minutes. After that it seems to hold pretty well right away as long as you aren't pulling at the wires or something. After giving it a day to dry it holds very strong.
Wire Glue Works December 16, 2008 B. Howell (Powell, TN United States) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I purchased this item to use for "soldering" electrical connections where true soldering was prohibitive due to the heat associated with it. This product is basically 100% carbon powder suspended in a glue product. It must be stirred up very well before each use. It's disappointing that the glue product is SO fluid; it flows like crazy and can make a heck of a mess if you're not careful. It takes at least 24 hours for the glue to dry completely, but by golly it's conductive!! For connections that are apt to be stressed due to movement, I advise finally sealing the connection with epoxy.
Haven't found a better product for "heatless soldering" that is so versatile.
