Shurtape PC-745 T-REX Duct Tape is a 17 mil ferociously strong specialty grade cloth duct tape. A double layer of quick stick adhesive is combined with extra strong cloth and a durable waterproof film layer to create the solution for all of your toughest repairs. Typical applications of T-Rex Duct include bonding to rough surfaces and other heavy repairs. Shurtape makes the tape in 3 layers. Layer 1 is the tough, thick polyethylene skin which repels even the harshest elements. Layer 2 is the thick heavy thread which is tightly and securely interwoven which creates a reinforced inner cloth. Then layer 3 is the double adhesive which melts through layer 2 and locks onto layer 1 via co-extrusion. It equates to 4x the staying power, 3x the holding power, and 2x the bite of regular duct tapes. NOTES: Sizes shipped will typically be the tape industry standard metric-cut sizes, i.e. 24mm for each 1 inch of nominal tape width ordered (rolls are approximately 5% narrower than the nominal size). This product's actual size is 48mm x 40 yds.

I live in San Francisco and bought this tape to add to my earthquake survival kit. I was looking for a tape that would stick anything to anything which, in an earthquake, is what one needs to do for shelter. I was afraid that the thickness of the tape due to its superior adhesives would make it slough off.
Not so. In appearance, it is like all other duct tapes except that the silver color is dull, almost black. (Who cares.) Its stickiness is superb and it doesn't, "slough", at all.
I was also interested in the strength of the tape. Again, like all duct tape, it is strong along its length but tears easily along the width. I can't make a lengthwise comparison with other tapes other than by impression. It seems as strong lengthwise. Is it stronger? Don't know. it does tear with somewhat more difficulty than other tapes across the width but just as easily along the length. While interested in strength, I wanted the tape to be tear-able in the absence of tools. It's OK.
The only, "con", is that the tape is not actually 2" wide. It is 1.88" wide since it is cut on machines that are metric rather than English. None of the sites that I visited seemed to realize this. Therefore, I was under the impression that there were two varieties of this tape, one 1.88" and one 2". Since I was interested in the widest tape possible, I disqualified vendors that described the tape, correctly, as being 1.88" wide.
Actually, they are all the same width. Find the site that offers the tape at the lowest price, regardless of what they state as the width, to get the best deal.
