 A great replacement for the now discontinued halogen lamps. November 9, 2009

Just like most reviewers, I've also wanted a replacement for a burnout halogen floor lamp. I went to a local lamp store to find out that the reason the halogen floor lamps were discontinued was because of many home fires they have caused over the years, which actually means they are banned! I felt desperate for a suitable replacement and found this wonderful lamp on Amazon. It is so similar in terms of illumination, you won't tell much difference. Just as some reviewers mentioned, it has a slight yellowish-tint of light, something that halogen lamp did not have. Also, the lamp's box claims that the light can burn for up to 10,000 hours!!! That is absolutely insane if you ask me and I will gladly sign for half that time.
Bottom Line: If you are looking for a tradition halogen lamp replacement, give this one a try. Please note that I only had this lamp for less than 2 weeks, so this is more of a first impression than anything. I never had a chance to contact their customer support, so I cannot comment on that.

I was looking for a lamp that I couldn't find in the stores anymore in my area. Thought I found here on Amazon, but when I got it was not the one pictured. There was something else odd about this before it was sent I was getting emails saying that the post office was not able to deliver the product. It showed up at my door a week later. There is one more thing, this item was on my wise list but it doesn't show up. I was lucky that I saved it under my favorites because at first I thought I ordered the wrong item. But that wasn't the case.
I have purchased other items from Amazon and never had a problem before. Will still use Amazon but will be more carefull of what I get.

I like this way better than a similarly styled halogen I was using. It doesn't get hot, and the lamp still projects a lot of light without problem. Assembly was fairly easy, except threading the cord and tightening it so the head would fit on last tube was not so easy and required some force. Be careful--it is all too easy to shred the cord a little.

I was willing to buy 2 and give one to my Mom even though there are some issues. It is replacing a 300W halogen torchiere. The halogen bothered me because they get so hot and use so much more energy. I like the light output, the dimmer, and overall design. My bulbs on both orders were fine. Problems: The bulb takes a second to warm up and the dimmer on one lamp seemed to not offer much range. Also had an issue with the threading on the last lamp. Took a few tries to get the sections lined up perfectly and not lean. Fortunately I didn't strip anything. I honestly doubt the quality of some more expensive or stylish lamps is that much greater so I think this is a best buy.

I ordered one after reading people's review. I was very pleased with the purchase. I only need the lamp turned on to light my whole living room. I also like the fact that it only uses 55W bulb and can adjust the light. It was easy to put together. I also ordered one for my other room and for a friend who also saw it and liked it very much. It is definitely better than what I saw in the stores when I went shopping. I thought I would put my positive review since the reason I purchased it was because of other people's positive review. Thanks.
