Honeywell "experts" are no help. October 28, 2009 dg My RTH2310 started to malfunction after a year. The problem is that the relay that closes the circuit to turn the furnace on started to intermittently fail to energize, even though the flame icon appeared (indicating the thermostat is trying to turn on the heating system). The Honeywell "help line" was useless. They kept telling me to check the furnace and refused to acknowledge that I was able to troubleshoot the problem to the relay. Then, further feedback from them stated that 25-30 VAC is needed on the OUTPUT contacts of the relay to enable it to energize. Incredible!!! I will NEVER purchase another Honeywell product.
Honeywell documentation sucks October 28, 2009 Horse with no name. (PA) This is the worst documentation I have even seen on a product in my life. Tech support is all but never in, and the lack of instruction is inexcusable.
The unit does actually work (at least so far) and the backlit display is the only way to go.
I searched for hours on the web trying to find what terminals to use with my boiler. It has a honeywell aquastat and control, you'd think with it being 2 years old that you could somehow relate the terminal designations to this thermostat. Wrong! Just download the "Manual" (laughing at them calling it that) and take a look at the instructions. They're a joke. All it says is to match the terminals from the "Old" thermostat to the "New" one. That's it. Make the letters match up. Well, I HAVE a HONEYWELL thermostat I'm replacing and guess what, it's got NO Labels. So, while that would be ok, there's nothing in the "Manual" that says what the terminals on the new thermostat are. Nothing.
With such thorough documentation, I have little faith in the designers. Made in China. What more can I say.
I saved the old unit (made in the USA) for when this thing takes a dump on me.
Excellent Product August 17, 2009 Chris Y. Cummings (Lancaster, PA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this product mainly because it was competitively priced compared to other stores like home depot. I especially love the backlight feature and the two different schedule modes. This thermostat also displays the time/day and the LCD is very easy to read. I would recommend this seller and this product to anyone.
not bad August 10, 2009 S. Hoffman (baton rouge, la) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
the first stat i received had a malfuntioning backlight. i returned it to Amazon and they promptly sent me another one. (The return process was easy)
the stat is nice and it works well.
i wish the program buttoms were behind a movable or hinged flap. i don't like having to pull off the cover to get to the buttons.
Bug or feature? March 25, 2009 Gipfeli (Santa Rosa, California United States) 11 out of 12 found this review helpful
I bought this thermostat because its sleek design, with all the controls that aren't needed daily hidden under the front cover. If you have a life that follows a very simple program, then this thermostat will work for you. But if you leave the house on an irregular basis and you don't want to keep the house heated while you are gone, it doesn't. The problem is that if you leave the home and manually turn down the temperature, it will revert back to the programmed temperature after two hours. This is neither on the box nor in the user's manual documented. But if you call their hotline, they will tell you. So the options are to turn off the program, every time you leave the home, but then you'll have to leave off the snap-on front cover, which makes this unit much more ugly than the cluttered competition (the program button is hidden). Or you turn off the program completely and use the thermostat manually, which kind of defies the purpose of this unit.
