OK But No Cigar September 25, 2009 James E. Jacobs (Sherman, TX) This product is great in concept and price, but falls short in application. To push the caulk out through the nozzle so much force is applied that fairly quickly the bracket holding the caulk tube is forced out of its holder and you have to stop and reattach it.
Other than this one defect, that does not make the product unusable, it works fine.
nice but slow August 31, 2009 Gus Richards (USA) product works well. did the job, only dislike was it was slow pushing out the caulk.
Surprisingly good! July 27, 2009 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've had to re-seal about 600 shingles on my roof. Started out with a manual caulk gun to apply the cement, but it was very slow going. I bought the Black & Decker figuring 50/50 chance that it would work out. But, it's been great. Some manufacturers seem to put a double seal in their caulk/cement tubes. One seal that you can puncture from outside. And the other appears to be farther within the tube, and requires pressure to "pop" it out. The Black & Decker tool won't do it. So I first place the tube in a manual gun to pop the seal, then transfer it to the Black & Decker. I've gone through about 15 tubes so far, and it has made a tough job relatively easy.
QUIT WORKING IN ONE WEEK! April 3, 2009 A. Dumont (Orange Beach, AL) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I went to Home Depot to look for a power caulk gun after getting tired on a big home project of the manual gun. I thought the Ryobi for around $30, plus $30 or so for a NiCad battery and $39 for a charger that also works on the optional Lithium Ion batteries that contractors swear by was a bit much. I read the reviews for the B & D online and as ususal, some good and some bad. I took a chance and ordered it on line. After about 15 tubes of glue and 2 sets of batteries it just quit and would work no more. It did do a fair job on laying out a smooth bead of caulk. I went back to HD and boudght the Ryobi with the NiCad battery which also can be used in their line of One Plus or something like that products. I have charged it one time and used at least 25 tubes of caulk. It has in infinite varialbe speed conrtol, an attached pin to puncture tube with seals and comfortable feel. I could not find any other power caulk guns or refurbished which I usually by, having found over the years fewer problems than new products be it electroic, computers or tools. Spend the extra money and do not waste it on this product. I guess it had a warranty but I do not have the inclination or time to fool with such on this level product and I needed to keep working on the job. Do not buy the B & D.
