Amazon.com Product Description The Fuji mini-mite 3X paint spray gun system is a portable and powerful kit ideal for cabinet makers, furniture refurbishers, auto detailers, or anyone who wants professional-grade painting and coating for their wood or metal work; the 3-stage Ametek-Lamb electric HVLP turbine provides approximately 6 PSI, giving you enough pressure to spray all types of coating (when properly thinned), including water-based coatings. This system comes with the XT-2 spray gun, featuring a non-bleed design for less disturbance of shop dust and durable all stainless steel fluid components. It also comes with a high-efficiency air cap which helps reduce over-spray, and a convenient 25-foot hose with air control valve. What's in the Box XT-2 spray gun, 3-stage HVLP turbine, high-efficiency air cap, and 25-foot hose.

. . . unless most (and I mean MOST) of your spraying will be latex.
Fuji has 4 models in 2 lines - the PRO, which means that they have special noise damping that makes them significantly quieter; and the Mini-Mite which do not have the noise control but are otherwise identical. Within the 2 lines, there are two "power" levels - 3 stage or 4 stage turbines.
This is a logical product line as it allows people to get what they're looking for. How do you know what you're looking for? Well, let me suggest a way of thinking about it. First, consider the noise; if you are doing small projects or working outdoors or you are willing to use noise protection, then a Mini-Mite will work for you. My 3x is essentially as loud as a cheap Rigid shop vac. The PRO that I have worked with is about as loud as my very quiet Festool shop vac. For the projects I do, I can live with the noise and am happy to pocket the $100+ price difference.
WRT "power", consider again what you'll be working with. If you want to do unthinned latex for large projects, then you should get a 4 stage. If you are doing anything less, then you will probably be fine with 3 stage. The trick of course is trying to understand if you'll really be fine or if you'll have tool regret. Of course the no regrets option comes at a price - another $100+ which makes an expensive tool very expensive.
It is important to understand that the 3 stage is capable of spraying almost anything, including 10% thinned latex, with ease. I have run a variety of materials with the smaller turbine and they have all come out well. I'm not in production and were that the case, I would certainly own the 4 stage. But the 3 stage has never failed to produce - that's why I say it's all the sprayer you'll need (notwithstanding the circumstances noted above).
This is especially true because the Fuji sprayers are Cadillac (or BMW if you prefer) items. Quality parts, ease of use and cleanup, and thoughtful engineering make for a high value product. Cheap? No. Worth it? Unequivocally.
One final note - the whip hose should not be considered optional. In fact, I feel like Fuji should include in the basic package.

My hobby is photography and this product is used to spray coat canvas prints. It is compact, reasonable noise level, intuitive to use, does the job very well and cleans up nicely.Fuji Mini-Mite 3X Paint Spray Gun #2903X
This Paint Spary Gun Works Great May 3, 2008 Dale M. Sipma (Los Angeles) 7 out of 9 found this review helpful
Used the gun to spray oil finish on a fence and Acrylic Semi-Gloss on
17 metal music stands. Shutters are next. Product quality is excellent.
Spray pattern is easy to adjust from an 8" fan to a 1" wide round pattern.
Great finish of the Acrylic.
