Her doctor suggested I put some pieces of wood under the legs of the headboard of her bed. I didn't think that would be too safe, so I checked Amazon to see if there was anything I could use. Of course, Amazon has the best of just about everything, so I recently purchased the 4 1/2 in. bed risers and placed them under the headboard of her bed. Works beautifully!!! These bed risers are made of solid wood and are stackable, if you want a higher rise. I just use one under each headboard post and it doesn't make the bed too high for her to get into. What a lifesaver these are! retaped box should have been a clue   September 8, 2009 mummerz (Boston, MA) Opened the retaped box and had to air out items since they still had a strong odor of the laquer. Upon inspection one of the risers had a long verticle split in the wood. I glued it but was not impressed that these had made the grade when packed by the company. Not safe for this bed   June 21, 2009 Patricia Tryon (Longmont, CO United States) Simply, the openings into which the guest bed's legs are supposed to fit are so shallow that I am not willing to risk the safety of our guests. The large, square posts of the bed fit the width of the opening, but the depth is less than 1/4 inch. If my linebacker-nephew were to hit the bed lifted up by these things, my fear is simply that the blocks, though sturdy vertically, would not bear up under any horizontal movement of the bed. Perhaps these blocks would work out under a bed used delicately, with its occupant always bearing in mind the shallow openings into which the bed's leg fits. I do not wish to burden my guests with such responsibility, and thus have decided to give up the storage space a safe riser would provide. As one of the earliest adopters, I've bought many, many items from Amazon -- thousands, easily. They raised my bed to a perfect height. It's much easier to get in and out of the bed, and less bending when making the bed and changing the linens.
