Product Description StreetPilot 2720 comes ready to go right out of the box with preloaded City Navigator® NT street maps, including a hefty points of interest (POIs) database with hotels, restaurants, fuel, ATMs and more. Simply touch the sunlight-readable screen or use the remote to enter a destination, and the 2720 takes you there with 2D or 3D maps and turn-by-turn voice directions. It even announces the name of exits and streets so you never have to take your eyes off the road. In addition, the 2720 accepts custom points of interest (POIs), such as school zones and safety cameras, and lets you set proximity alerts to warn you of upcoming POIs.

Garmin Street Pilot 2720 August 19, 2009 Joe R. Mcauley (Hohenwald, TN USA) This was a discontinued model, refurbished and with a one-year warranty. It has operated perfectly (within the limits of any GPS and of the lag of up to decades in updating the mapping database in some areas). You can even program it to show the information you want and not show what you don't want, such as showing elevation while showing the map, which some of the newer GPSs don't allow. It's more basic than the newer models and it's bulkier. One feature that would have been nice would have been internal batteries. As it is, it runs on a 12-volt d.c. adaptor or an a.c. adaptor. If you turn off the ignition of your car, and your 12-volt accessory socket is not powered, the GPS shuts off. I bypassed the ignition switch on one vehicle to obviate this problem.
Inexpensive motorcycle gps June 30, 2009 Terry Desper (Central WV) I can't really add much to what's been said, especially since I'm new to GPS in general. I've wanted a GPS for my bike for a while but haven't been able to afford one until I came across this one. I think it'll suite my needs, basic road navigation, just fine. With the mounting solution I've chosen I've got about $225 all total in my setup. A far cry from the price of a new Zumo. They say "newly overhauled." Mine looked brand new and came with all the accessories needed for your car. I'll have to use it for a while to see if the maps, City Navigator 2008, need updating. So far I haven't had a problem with them but haven't taken any trips into unfamiliar territory. Sure beats looking at a fogged up, rain soaked map pouch on my tank bag or stopping, pulling out the map, trying to remember the next 2 or 3 turns and repeating the process.
Garmin-Streetpilot A+A+A+ June 26, 2009 William P. Tinsley (Salisbury, North Carolina) The 2720 is a Super GPS. I highly recommend it, I think it is the best out there among GPS's. Get you one ASAP. From Paul T.
An Oldy but Goodie June 23, 2009 James M. Boone (NC) I purchased this GPS for use with my motorcycle and it is exactly what I was looking for. I could have paid $500+ for a Zumo, but for I bought a refurbished 2720 instead. It may not be as stylish as the Zumo, but it does everything I want. It is waterproof, I can download routes with Map Source, I can upload the tracks of where I have been, and it has a wide screen display. It doesn't play MP3s or doesn't have an XM radio but I don't care about that. It is a superior navigation device that is easy to use. I really like it!
the product is great....it's the company that i found to be lacking June 15, 2009 island guzzi (Rhode Island) and it's not the vendor, the problem with this product is the maker, Garmin. Despite all the reviews saying buyers are eligible for a free download of the most recent map my request for an updated map set was denied. i was told after a day that "it's a discontinued model" I can't understand why it took a full day to get that answer, it seems to me that customer service at Garmin should know this as policy. The support at Garmin also didn't know that the audio output of their motorcycle hookup cable is line level. I was told that my problem was my 2.5 to 3.5 adapter. Note; Garmin is happy to sell you a map they just won't give it to you with this model. As for the support, I'm sure Garmin has some fine folks but after all, this is MY experience with Garmin. My email about the audio problem didn't get returned. I discovered the solution on my own for the motorcycle cable and no audio; it has to go to an amplifier then to a speaker or earpiece. Honestly, how you do service a product you don't know? Garmin "service" is there to sell you upgraded maps: that is all.
The unit is flawless and GPS technology is wonderful. I'm sure the newer units are even better but the 2720 is capable and easy to use. When I upgrade I'll be looking for a company that supports the product better than Garmin did.
