does the job February 15, 2010 Bill Lewey it's big, it works, I use it to dry out my horse and camper trailer in the oregon winters.
Very satisfied February 15, 2010 J. Paccione (WV. USA) Although its only been one month, this dehumidifier performs well. It is quiet and efficient. Only negative is if you have a power blip I notice that you have to power it up again as it does not do that on its own. I would recommend this if you have a small space to dehumidify.
When good, good; when defective, DISASTROUS January 17, 2010 odd-bird (Oklahoma City, USA) Bought a new one for octogenarian parents. Worked 2 months (just past return time without penalty). Paid in excess of $50. for shipping another. It has NEVER worked. Rating: NO STARS!!!! (I had to give one just to do the review)
Product OK but with Problems, Company Terrible December 23, 2009 Al (Wisconsin) I've had this dehumidifier for two years. It has worked well, but I have given it two stars because of the problems I've had.
One problem is that there is no way to evaluate its energy efficiency. I've asked the company several times for figures on the energy required to remove a certain amount of water from the air, and have never gotten a response.
In the unit's first 12 hours of operation, it removed 1.1 liters of water in a room with a temperature of 57 degrees, and reduced the humidity from 77% to 53%. It used 2.63 KWH of electricity to accomplish that, giving an efficiency of .42 liters/KWH. This does not compare well with the efficiencies of EnergyStar rated dehumidifiers (typically 1.5 liters/KWH), but I realize that this number is strongly influenced by temperature. Without the company's help, you have no idea whether this dehumidifier is an energy hog.
Before I bought it, I asked whether it was an "EnergyStar" appliance. The tech representative told me that it was -- that turned out to be false.
The other problem is that after a year or so of operation, the coils get coated with dust. The dust cannot be easily removed unless you cut off the grill that covers them.
Whisper-quiet, accurate humidity level December 12, 2009 Michael J. Doran (Duvall, Wa) I recently purchased the 25-pint dehumidifier for my business; I am a violin-maker and my shop is in a basement that has had some humidity problems. I was worried before I bought it that the three humidity level settings would be limiting, my old unit had a variable control, but I have been very impressed with the accuracy of the settings. I have a very accurate hygrometer and ever since I set the unit to "50%" the humidity has been between 48 and 51%. I also appreciate how quiet it is- it is now the most quiet thing in my shop. It does the job I need it to do so I can just forget about it. I wish the reservoir was easier to remove when it is full. I would recommend this dehumidifier to my friends.
