Customer Reviews: High quality --- poor design December 16, 2008 SMS (South Florida) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
As with all Grohe products the quality of manufacture is excellent. The problem is with design.
The plastic reservoir bottle is threaded, yet it does not screw into the body of the dispenser. Instead, it is held in place by prongs. When refilled the full weight of the dishwashing liquid causes the bottle to release from the prongs. On several occasions the bottle fell and spilled on the floor and items stored in the cabinet below the sink. Needless to say cleaning up spilled concentrated dishwashing liquid is no picnic. It takes dozens of wringings of the sponge before the sudsing subsides. I finally solved this problem by installing a makeshift L bracket to support the reservoir bottle. Not my idea of great out of the box design.
The second problem is that the pump siphons. This means that in a short period of time, the viscous diswashing liquid will clog the pump's weep holes and the dishwashing liquid continues to pour out of the dispenser onto the counter. The pump has to be disassembled and soaked in hot water to remove any residue. This works for a while. Grohe will send a replacement pump -- and then the process begins anew. If the dispenser did not look so good and match the Grohe faucet (5 stars for the faucet) I'd replace it.
