Great little pump January 30, 2010 N. Linn (Cola, SC) I bought this for my fiance for Christmas because we have a 50 gallon fish tank. He used to have to lift 5 gallon buckets into the fish tank while holding the lid open, but this little pump works great to transfer water from the buckets into the fishtank (about 3 feet of an incline). It was well worth the $30 or so that I spent on it!
Attwood Portable Pump December 24, 2009 K. Fisher Amazing little pump. I use it to pump out an outside water feature when we get too much rain. Very fast for it's size (a little over 3 gallons a minute on 3 D-cell batteries).
GREAT PRODUCT November 17, 2009 THIS PRODUCT WORKS! LIGHWEIGHT AND DOES THE JOB. I LIKED THE FEATURE OF BEING ABLE TO REMOVE THE WEIGHTED BASE SO PUMP HOVERS ON THE SURFACE.
A perfect portable pump November 1, 2009 Richard E. Katsanos (Easthampton, Massachusetts USA) We bought this for removing the copious amounts of water collecting on our new pool winter cover (a very wet fall in the northeast this year)and find it to work spectacularly. The pump really moves water at a high rate with fresh batteries. While the estimated five hour run time on new batteries might be a bit of optomistic advertising, the pump works so efficiently, the actual life of batteries is of little concern. The pump does lose its ability to pump well near the end of the battery life, especially if connected to a long hose. The large amount of leaves and smaller debris in the collected water do not seem to slow this down. This is by far the best value for its kind.
Excellent battery operated portable pump October 23, 2009 Sparse Grey Hackle (Boulder, Utah) As far as battery operated portable pumps go this one is tops.
Owning a boat livery and having to bail out 75 boats every rainstorm you get to know pumps well.
I am shaking my head at the poor reviews a couple people gave this pump, you can't teach a pig to sing, you waste your time and only annoy the pig so I won't even try to expalin to them why they are using the wrong pump to begin with
If you need a sump pump to empty your basement, this is not it!
If you need a pump to move 1,000 gallons of water in a flash, this is not it!
A 12Volt or 115V house current pump can not be compared to a small portable battery operated pump, it's like comparing an old fashioned washing board to a machine washer/dryer and saying the board does not perform as expected....No, it wouldn't if you are expecting a 220volt $1,000 dollar washing machine result.
A small submersible battery run pump that runs on 4 batteries is not going to be as impressive as a pump that is measured in HORSEPOWER ratings...that should be obvious to the reviewers who were unhappy with this pump.
I've used the same pump for 10 years, I take the batteries out when not in use and save myself a corrosion problem, I also drain it out, takes 30 seconds! and store it inside like I do with all elcetronic tools I don't want to replace every year.
The beauty of this pump is its portability.
Need to drain a rain barrel? drop it in, it's waterproof and you can attach longer lengths of hose to it to reach down into any depth.
Pump out the boat while your having coffee? Drop it in.
Get the water off the pool cover or empty a kiddy pool? Drop it in.
Camping? drop it in the lake, pond or river and fill a 5 gallon bucket in minutes without bending and breaking your back.
Dry camping with the TT, 5er or RV, simply carry a folding collapsible bucket and the pump or a couple 5 gallon pails, and you can easily refill your on board water tanks no funnels needed.
after 10 years of almost weekly use my pump motor is shot, it still runs but the impeller is shot, that's pretty good for a little plastic impeller, and I've sucked up all kinds of leaves, grit and muck into the poor thing and she keeps running or will as sson as I knock the mud off it.
I paid under twenty bucks for this a decade ago, so was a bit surprised to see they doubled in price since then, but seeing how long they last, I won't hesistate to buy another, and in fact ordered one right now.
You can use this to pump out bathtubs and sinks if the drain clogs, use it to fill a fish tank or empty one, it's uses are endless really.
If you can fit the pump into the container it will pump it out, I've even filled a couple 5 gallon buckets with miracle grow plant food solution and used this pump to water flowers and containers over my head, lots easier to hold a hose up over my head than a watering can or bucket!
