I have not used the filters I purchased from amazon yet. The price is much better than at Lowe's and Menards.
Whirlpool 4396701 filter October 4, 2009 Michael J. Pelchar (Welches, OR. United States) Item performs as expected, however they are all overpriced and they know they have you over a barrel because the icemakers and water dispensers don't work properly if you go way past the due date for replacement and will NOT function without the filter in place. A price range of 6-10 usd would be more than sufficient, for what amounts to charcoal and plastic.
Buy it from Amazon September 26, 2009 Wilfredo M. Viray (Orange County, CA) I used to buy this from Sears, but it was more expensive, and I had to pay tax. This makes water taste good. Very cost effective as well.
cheaper than buying direct September 13, 2009 K. Liu (New Jersey, USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Same product as the one sold directly from the manufacturer, and now carries the Pur label.
Water tastes funny September 7, 2009 J. Ryan (Fort Collins, CO) I swapped out the filter which was obviously very easy, and the new filter does not leak or anything.
But, with the new filter our water tastes slightly "chemically".
We are going to try buying another filter, but for now, we just aren't using the water from our fridge.
