A pretty and safe way to enjoy the inviting ambiance of candlelight, OXO's Candela series substitutes clean, bright LED illumination for traditional wax and wicks. This set of eight tabletop Glow lights features translucent white holders in a gently flared cylindrical shape with lights set low on the inside. When lit, which simply requires lifting the holders off the included charger, each candle emits a soft, consistent glow that replicates firelight and "burns" for up to eight hours. Unlike traditional candles, however, these do not get hot, won't extinguish when exposed to drafts or breezes, and produce no smoke or soot. Plus, LED lights never need to be changed, so it's effortless to keep these running for years. To recharge, simply set the lights back on the charger and plug the set into any standard outlet. We bought these Oxo Candela Glow sets for our kids' rooms.
The concept is great: a soft light that is easy to move around a room, stays lit all night, and is rechargeable saving you $ on batteries. We loved these at first exactly for those reasons but quickly became disappointed in the product.
First the pros:
- Rechargable batteries *should* make it cost effective in the long run
- Soft warm yellow glow that illuminates a small area very similar to a candle
- Does not heat up
- The company provides excellent customer support
Cons:
- The rechargable batteries do not hold a charge for very long. 50% of the batteries in our products held a charge for about 2 hours after about 1 months worth of use only at night. We followed the product instructions to the letter.
- Replacement batteries are apparently failing now as well after about 2 months worth of use since about 75% of the products don't hold a charge for more than 2 hours now.
We contacted the makers of Oxo Candela Glow Lights who were very polite and sent us replacement batteries at no cost and with no argument after the first battery failures. While I really appreciate good customer service it just can't make up for a poor product because sadly within another couple months we have more lights not holding a charge for very long. I may call the manufacturer again for replacement batteries but its aggravating to have to do it and I doubt they will send us replacement batteries indefinitely.
I would not recommend this product.

Awful experience with this product! (as well as the Oxo Flare) Neither of the two sets of lights that I bought for Christmas gifts didn't work! We followed the directions, charged them as directed in the instructions, and three from the flare set wouldn't even turn on, and 5 of the glow set flickered on and off and when turned on would only stay lit for 3 minutes. Tried this process twice. Could not get either one to work correctly.
Amazon up to this point has been very kind in letting me return these items. I will post again once the return has been resolved.

I had a very unpleasant experience with this product. 4 out of the 8 lights were defective in the set I was sent. I did not try them out until I had had them for 30 days so Amazon will not exchange for a working set. I have written to Oxo directly; we'll see what happens.

Great for around the pool and patio when entertaining at night without having to keep relighting candles when wind blows them out. Also make a great night-light in the bathrooms or when watching T.V. Works as described and stays lit much longer than 8 hours. I have left these on from 9:00 p.m. and they are still lit the next morning when I wake up!

This product is amazing. The lights are cool looking, very unique and they definitely turn heads with guests.... we use them on the dining room table, the coffee table, the night stand and all around the house. They are wonderful for parties and entertaining. They give off a beautiful subtle light, almost a glow similar to a candle. They last for almost 12 hours with a single charge- this is an awsome product. We origianlly saw them at a friends house on Cape Cod and we said we had to have those ourselves. We love ordering from Amazon.com so this was a natural choice for us. The price doesn't vary much from store to store that that wasn't a big issue. The lights are cool to the touch and charge by just placing then on the carry tray included. It's really amazing actually.
