Amazon.com Product Description The Wayne 3/4 HP stainless steel submersible sump pump is designed for use in basements that frequently flood. It fits in sump pits nine inches on level and four inches off level, with a ceramic mechanical seal for durability in basements with the highest water tables. The pump is made from rugged cast iron and rust-resistant stainless steel housing and fasteners. A 1-1/2-inch NPT discharge clears out your basement quickly. The mechanical float switch provides reliable operation and allows for installation in sump basins with an 11-inch or greater diameter. A top suction strainer filters out debris. The glass reinforced poly-carbonate impeller is intended for years of use, and Wayne backs its pump with a three-year limited warranty.

WARNING: Contains parts expected to be replaced every two years November 24, 2008 Westlake (Cleveland, Ohio USA) After my builder's grade sump pump died after six years of use, I decided to upgrade to a better unit. Worked good for the first two years, but now will not engage by itself. I can tap the float to make it work, but it will not work on its own when the water level requires it to turn on. After collecting model/serial number & purchase info, I contacted Wayne. As covered in other reviews, the lifetime warranty covers very little of the unit. In fact, the company's customer support folks expect for the switch to be replaced every two years at over $30 a pop. The switch includes the cover assembly, and you must drain and refill the oil before replacing the switch and top. Directions for performing the switch are not readily available - their response was "call us if you run into any issues". This requirement doesn't make the price competitive when comparing to other 5-year plus models, including the time and mechanical/plumbing know-how to pull the unit, disassemble, replace, reassemble, and reattach the pump. Unless you're used to part swapouts and reinstalling a pump every two years, I would look elsewhere.
Great Workhorse of a Pump October 4, 2008 S. Follmer (Manhattan, IL) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I live in one of those houses where if the sump pump goes out, my basement fills up pretty quick. I think a river runs under my house. I bought this pump from Amazon about a year ago and it has never failed me. This pump does not just sit, but it pumps constantly. In the wetter season it probably goes off every 5 to 15 minutes or so. In the very dry summer and winter maybe every two hours or so. This pump is running all the time. I wanted something that was stainless steel with alot of push to it. In the wet season I have inch and a half PVC pipe outside of my house that runs to the alley to discharge so there is a long run for the water to go. This pump has no problem pushing the water through it and out of my property. It pushes the water out hard and fast. In the winter I discharge it underground so as not to freeze. I usually replace my pumps every few years as they wear out. I have had many other pumps and some have failed, but this one is going strong after a year. The 3/4 horse is kind of hard to find in a pump. I expected it to be noisy with its high horsepower but it is not anymore noisy than the 1/2 horse pumps it replaced. The float never sticks as it had on some of my older pumps. I need a high volume reliable workhorse and this pump fits the bill.
Fake Lifetime Warranty! October 2, 2008 S. A. ROBBINS (USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought a Wayne CDU980 thinking that it would have a Lifetime Warranty. At least that is what it said on the Wayne Pumps website. It is not a real Lifetime Warranty. It only covers a repair/replacement ONCE! And only for the original owner! And it DOES NOT cover Wear and Tear! I feel like I have been scammed. I will never buy another Wayne product. I should have known better and checked before I bought it but I thought Wayne was a respectable and trusted company.

Good solid pump June 23, 2008 Bass Cadet (California) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I use this as a sump pump for a koi pond. My previous pump (a 1/3 HP Little Giant) quit working after 3 years, so I needed a pump in a hurry. After doing some quick research on the net, I selected this as the most reasonably priced pump for my needs, with a lifetime warranty as a bonus. Since I needed it ASAP, I signed up for Amazon Prime. Everything was as hoped for. I got it in two days and installed it without problems. This is an excellent pump and much better than the one I replaced. It can empty my sump, which is filled from a 500 gallon settlement tank, in less than half the time. The only slight negative is the top suction strainer is easily clogged and not as easily cleaned. But I'm trying to prefilter the water and it seems to be working better.
