Amazon.com Grinders lack the glamour of routers, say, and compound miter saws, but when it's a grinder you need, we don't think there are too many better choices out there than this one. "You get what you pay for" is, we think, even more true in the world of tools than elsewhere, and this is definitely a case in point. We've never met a Bosch tool that lacked quality, precision engineering, ergonomics and power, and this grinder is no exception. Our favorite feature on this one is definitely the paddle switch, not just for comfort and convenience, but for the ultimate in safety and control. We're not big fans of the lock-on button, because it negates the safety feature of the paddle switch, but we know some of you wouldn't have it any other way. As for user ease, it's fabtastic. It weighs in just over 4 pounds, and the balance in hand is supreme. Up against other grinders in its class, the vibration is absolutely minimal, virtually eliminating that unpleasant arm-buzz. Another thing we like about this grinder is its ability to draw power from DC outlets, so if you'll be grinding welds, this tool is a perfect choice. The 4-1/2-inch wheel changes out fast, and the guard adjusts without tools. The whole tool says "quality," from the sealed switch to the ServiceMinder brushes that automatically shut down the tool when it's time to change them, ensuring that this workhorse will be with you for a long, long time. --Kris Jensen-Van Heste What's in the Box Grinder, guard, vibration-control auxiliary handle, flange kit, spanner wrench, abrasive wheel

A Trusted Friend.....Powerful and Enduring April 6, 2009 Origin Designs Ron Heikes (SAN JOSE, CA USA) I'd purchased a used Bosch grinder from a friend a few years back however it didn't have the paddle lever, only a off and on switch. I unfortunately dropped this grinder in such a way that the on/off switch no longer works (no fault of the grinders) and not wanting to plug and unplug to turn on and off (plus the safety issue of it) I decided to replace it with this grinder. What a fortunate accident for although the old grinder was still chugging along after years of use this grinder is just the ticket. It's like going from roll up car windows to push button because it just makes life easier. For long grinding projects (which is usually the case) I just lock the grinder switch to ON and then when need be with a flick of my finger the paddle lever turns off immediately. For very quick and short needs I just use the paddle lever. My grinder is used for sculptural metal work and it gets put through its paces. Although I just purchased this replacement grinder I can only assume that it too will live a long and healthy life thereby supporting me for years to come as it has wonderful parentage.
I own other Bosch tools (Jigsaw, Router) that have all been fantastic therefore I keep coming back.
Works well but loud March 31, 2009 J. Padilla (Austin Texas) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Does the job. -1 star cuz it does not come with a case. Very loud! Another draw back is when it's used side ways (like to remove grout) you need to remove the 4 screw from the silver case part and rotate the head 90 degrees. Then you need to turn it back to do regular grinding work.
Where's the case? January 9, 2009 orangekay (San Francisco, CA United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I was a little taken aback by the size of the box this thing came in--turns out Bosch doesn't think grinders need to be put away and skimped on the case. This makes little sense to me given what tends to happen when a grinding wheel isn't stored properly, but maybe I'm crazy.
The grinder itself is solidly built and the gradual speed up keeps it from jumping out of your hand nicely. The safety on the switch is a great feature to prevent against accidents, but I find it a little tricky to hit with gloves on; same with the lock-on button and spindle lock. Guard adjustments are simple and tool-free at least, and there's plenty of power to go 'round.
It would have been nice if they had incorporated their anti-kickback circuit into this model, too. I don't need or want a bigger, heavier grinder, but I would like one that won't hit me in the face.
Good Quality Grinder December 17, 2008 J. Ruehlmann The 1810PS works very well. Very little drag under load, body is a comfortable diameter to grip, side handle is nicely angled and the tool is well balanced. I would prefer that it be made in the USA.
Seems solid October 24, 2008 Matthew Robinson (boston) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Works nicely, seems well-built. I would have liked clearer instructions about the rpm adjustments (some discs require higher rpms, some less). I've used one other brand of angle grinder, and this is far superior.
