Paslode's gas-powered nailers offer the power of pneumatics with the convenience and portability of a good old hammer. There's no compressor to haul out of your truck and into the job site, no hoses to connect and no electric power needed. Just pop in the propane gas canister and go!

This ultra-light nailer is an upgrade from the 16-gauge version and packs quite a punch despite weighing just 4.9 lbs. It's capable of driving nails from 5/8-inch all the way up to 2-inches! The 901000 also is very easy to manipulate, thanks to a depth of drive feature that doesn't require a wrench to adjust. And, your project should come out looking clean as a whistle because the tip is designed not to mar the wood. This tool is the ultimate merger of power and finesse, enabling you to finish off projects like molding, spindles, window casings, and more with a delicate touch.

The Paslode story
Paslode, a division of Illinois Tool Works (ITW), is a leading manufacturer and marketer of cordless and pneumatic fastening systems for construction, remodeling and industrial applications. Founded in 1935 by industrialist J.W. Leslie, Paslode introduced the very first pneumatic tool -- a light duty upholstery tacker -- in 1959. Shortly thereafter, Paslode produced the first commercially accepted pneumatic nailer, The Gun-Nailer, providing the construction industry with a cost efficient way to increase productivity and reduce worker fatigue. Since then, Paslode has expanded its product lineup to include a comprehensive selection of pneumatic and cordless nail guns, staplers, fasteners, and more.

1 out of 5 stars Good Concept, Lousy Quality   June 14, 2009

No one wants to drag around a hose and compressor. And, after working with a carpenter who uses 3 of these guns I was very impressed. Although the price was quite high the benefit seemed to outweigh the cost.
Upon receiving the gun it did not work and it was a lot of hazzle to return the defective product for another. So, Paslode repaired it free of charge. It then worked as advertised for perhaps 200 or so brads. Then it quit working again. I took the gun back to the repair shop where they told me the piston was bad! After about 2 weeks I got the gun back. It fired ONE brad perfectly and then stopped working again. Back to the repair shop where they told me it was a wiring issue. After this repair, I got the gun home, fired a few brads and the gun jammed (I was using the correct brads).
The repair shop told me these guns either work or they have lot's of problems. So, it seems I got one of the many duds.
I can't afford to experiment (gamble) with price heavy tools. Therefore, while the Paslode concept is excellent I highly recommed you save your money until someone develops a product that is high quality & dependable(which Paslode is NOT).

I have this 18 ga and the 16 ga angled nailers. They both have worked flawlessly for over 6 months and a couple thousand nails. I use the 18 exclusively for crown and fine mouldings, and the 16 when there's a few pieces of base or casing. I still keep a compressor and air gun when I have a lot of nailing to do.

Bought this product to make my job easier as a trim carpenter but was not what i expected. Maybe I expected too much but I am the only person that uses my tools and trim work is all I do so I know it was not abused. It worked fine for a while then it became high dollar junk. I finally sold it at a garage sale for 100 dollars and was glad to get rid of it. I bought 2 dewalt 18 volt finish nailers and have shot many boxes of nails with no problems. I feel that paslode let me down

5 out of 5 stars price problem   October 17, 2007

Be advised that Paslode's MSRP for this product is lowered to $ 259.00 so don't pay above that. You can get it with free shipping for $ 249.00 if you look around- Nail barn and elsewhere.

Awesome product, free of cords, hoses and heavy ancillary equipment. If you are not a pro, the only drawback is the shelf life of the fuel cell. This is offset in part by the fact that the same fuel cell works in the 16 gauge finish nailers. If you are not a pro though, is it worth paying so much more than pneumatic? Decisions decisions.
