Amazon.com Product Description The Porter-Cable 693LRPK 11 Amp fixed router and plunge base kit utilizes a hefty 1-3/4 HP motor to generate a mind-blowing 27,500 RPM for ultra-precise cuts. The six-position adjustable turret makes stepped plunge cuts quick and easy, and motor transitions between fixed and plunge base extremely fast. The micrometer depth adjuster keeps things incredibly precise to 1/128 of an inch. To ensure years of top-notch performance, the 690LR is equipped with a dust-sealed switch and sealed ball bearings to keep dust out. The included collets will accept 1/4-inch and 1/2-inch shank bits. Routing is made easy with the dual, ergonomic rubber handles strategically mounted on the router for easy, comfortable operation.

It did just what I need it to October 17, 2009 J. D. Cable (south east USA) I got this for a job where I had to cut large circles in 3/4" plywood, it did this job without any problems. I am looking forward to using this in the future. The handles were easy to hold and not to small for my large hands witch has been a problem on others. Just one caution, it is a small router not made for removing lots of wood at once, but if you go in stages it will do the job on large bits.
Best Out There October 28, 2008 Shugoro (SLC, UT) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
My dad taught wood shop for 30 years. This is all he would buy. Of all the models out there, this is the only ones that would stand up to the every day abuse of his students. I just purchased this to replace my craftsman that I've had for 5 years and only used occasionally.
PORTER CABLE 693LRK REVIEW April 28, 2008 Arthur Malaussena (MAINE) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
A great product and set. Easy to use and very accurate. Great power for the size and price.
Great Flexiable Router February 8, 2008 C. holt (texas) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is a great and flexiable router. Moving between the two bases is very quick. The ease with which the fixed base can be removed makes it very easy to change bits and make adjustment. Pleanty of power and works great in all task especially cutting dovetails.
Great Product, Great Price January 16, 2008 R. Hopp (Tri-Cities, WA USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
When I decided I needed another "mid-sized" router, the choice was simple. I bought my first Porter Cable "690" series router with a plunge base back in the early 90's ($189). It was used professionally for about 5 years and has since been used in my home shop. Other models owned personally, by co-workers and friends have come and gone but my experience with Porter Cable has amounted to hundreds of hours of use with no problems.
I purchased the 693LRPK for two main reasons. (1) Quality. (2) My old router and the 693 fixed and plunge bases are interchangeable.
Some might say it is short on features and needs updating but I don't mind having to use two wrenches for bit changes (no collet lock) and I don't mind the size and weight. I believe it is a direct relation to the power and quality.
Out of the box there are only 2 noticable differances from my original. The on/off switch is no longer a toggle but a rocker type and the plunge base lever is plastic not metal. Use reveals plenty of power with accurate cuts so at this point, I am going to assume the unseen (quality) has changed little if at all.
