Makes a great Sock Machine Stand December 28, 2009 Henry Terry (Front Range of the Rocky Mountains) We have, use and restore old [1870-1900] sock machines that have a right side crank handle. As this stand comes, a sock machine can easily be attached to it but it does not leave any room for setting tools or yarn. So it is not much more difficult to attach a wood or metal top that expands the usable surface. The design for raising and lowering the height works well, even with the weight [25 to 45 lbs] of these old cast iron machines. Very stable and no tipping so far with the center pedestal design. The feet are adjustable for uneven surfaces, a plus when setting up a sock machine at crank-ins, fairs and festivals. Circular sock machines are not what it was designed for but it works well and it is affordable. Possibly it would be a good stand for other favorite tools.
Santa Clarita is right!...this stand doesn't fit the Delta GR275 July 7, 2008 D. R. Schulze The gentleman from Santa Clarita, Calif. is right...if you're thinking the Delta grinder GR275 mounting holes will line up with the pre-drilled holes in this stand, forget it. The only way to use this stand with this particular grinder is to angle the bolts...kind of 'mickey mouse', but it works. Which grinders fit this stand? I have no idea. The adjustable feet are nice for uneven floors. Finish and appearance are satisfactory. Height adjustment is nice & easy for customizing for each person. If you have a heavy duty grinder (8"or larger), and use it alot, I'd recommend a different stand.
Matching Holes? Ha! June 9, 2008 K. Yarber (Santa Clarita, CA) After carefully reviewing the usability and adaptability of this tool stand to assure that it would accept the "matching" grinder I purchased at the same time, upon its delivery I discovered to anguished dismay that some tool manufacturers will advertise their products in the widest range of compatibility imaginable -- even though such claim(s) are untrue. This tool stand is a good solid piece of equipment -- but its mounting plate's holes do not match up with Delta's GR-276 (6" grinder)mounting holes. To complicate matters, the mounting plate is not large enough to re-drill suitably spaced mounting holes! The mounting holes of the GR-275 are wider apart by apprx .75". And there is no room to re-drill new holes either, and the grinder's base is cast iron. We can go to the Moon and devise robots to play around on Mars but we can't match up our holes on simple tools. Foiled again by our wonderful retail product distribution system. Whenever is it going to stop?????
Bench Grinder Stand January 15, 2008 E. Thompson (Butner, NC) I purchased this stand a couple of months ago and I'm very pleased. Since I had not seen a grinder stand quite like this one I did not know what to expect. It Works great!
HTC PRODUCTS (HGP-10) August 12, 2007 J. Anderson (CA USA) Product appears to be of quality construction, and easily adaptable to fit grinders easily. Assembly instructions would be better if they were specific to each stand instead of general to all.
