The battery has a handy "fuel gauge" that shows how much power remains.The hammer-drill/driver has a 1/2-inch keyless chuck and a two-speed, variable-speed motor (zero to 600 rpm, and zero to 1,800 rpm) that delivers a pumped-up 600 in./lbs. of torque. The chuck is equipped with carbide jaws that virtually eliminate bit slippage. There's no hole too large to drill, or screw too big to drive for this portable powerhouse. And when it's switched to the hammer mode, this tool will quickly bore through the hardest concrete, brick or stone. The 6-1/2-inch circular saw is arguably the most powerful cordless saw on the market. According to Milwaukee, this saw can crosscut more than 300 pine 2 by 4s on a single charge. It's equipped with a high-speed 4,200-rpm motor that chews through wood like a corded saw. The cordless Sawzall recip saw is an ideal tool for remodelers, plumbers, and electricians. When fitted with the appropriate blade, it'll cut practically any building material, including nail-embedded wood, metal ducts, plastic pipe, steel rods and roof shingles. Its two-speed, variable-speed motor (zero to 2,000, and zero to 3,000 strokes per minute) lets you choose the optimum cutting speed for the material. The saw has an aggressive 1-1/8-inch stroke length, and is equipped with a tool-free blade clamp and keyless adjustable shoe. The work light comes in handy when working in dark spaces. I am a plumber/pipefitter by trade and this is best set i've laid my paws on. Very rough on my tools and these have held up great. Solid tools and top-notch torque. I have had several cordless tools and none have compared. Very happy with them:)

These tools are a great value,especially when you fingure in the free promotional tool Milwaukee gives away if you buy the kit before July 31, 2009.
The skill saw is the best sordless saw ever, as is the sawzall. I've had a corded milwaukee sawzall since 1978, and the 28 volt cordless is a much better tool.
The hammer drill is great, but heavy. I may end up buying the 18 volt hammer drill as it will handle most light jobs. The 28 vlt charges, will also charge the 18 volt batteries.
After buying the kit, I went to the Milwaukee web site, and they were having a promotion and for free they sent the 28 volt 1/2 inch drive impact wrench. This wrench is the real thing, will replace my 1/2 air drive.

I had a set of 18V DeW*lt prior to this. They were stolen from my truck. So I started looking around for a replacement set. Like a light from above an email from Milwaukee arrived in my inbox three days later ( I had purchased and registered a Milwaukee router). The email announced the soon to arrive 28V line. It was soon so I waited just a week or so and then pre-ordered a set. Well as luck would have have it, things were delayed a bit. Apparently a battery factory burnt down so my order was delayed a few weeks so I managed.
When it arrived I was very pleased with the set. Even the light is very useful. I almost never have to use a trouble lamp any more this thing runs forever. My DeW*alt one with run down after just a short time. They could upgrade this to LED, this would be nice but not necessary.
The charger is snappy, usually has a battery ready before you expect it. The battery gauges are good too so that if one crawls across an attic or will be away from the charger you know what you have with you.
I've beat the heck out of the drill. So far the only weakness is that either the motor's rotor/contacts OR the trigger have probably pitted a bit. There are times where the variable speed needs a kick start. But I can't complain. When it gets really bad I'll see about repairs.
These tools are so very close to and in several cases exceed tools with cords.
They are not for everyone I suppose as they are not light but they keep on giving.
So thank you to the scumb bag that stole my DeW*lk kit. In the long run i'm better off.

I've owned a number of cordless power tools, but none have even come close to the power and the amount of work that can be performed between battery recharging. With the two batteries provided with the set, I can work virtually all day and almost never have to recharge. On the rare occasion that two fully charged batteries do not get me through the day, once I put the first battery on charge and switch to the second battery, the first is fully charged and ready to go by the time I exhausted the second battery.
As far as the individual tools are concerned, I have not found any significant flaws. The ergonomics are very good and the design is excellent. For example, the drill/battery interface is designed so the battery can either be mounted from the rear for better balance or from the front if the space you're working in is a bit cramped. Again, great power. I can drive 3" deck screws all day and they go in like with little effort. The sawsall has also been of great value as I have used it extensively since buying the set. I've done plunge cuts through the subfloor, double layered plywood roof sheathing and cut through 2" galvanized waste pipe (1/4 inch wall thickness) like a knife through hot butter. While I've only used the circular saw for simple crosscuts, it has also done everthing I've asked it to do.
Without resorting to hyperbole, this set is right up there with the best and most valuable tool purchases I've ever made. I strongly endorse this product and would state otherwise without hesitation if I felt differently.

I have a corded version of each one of these tools - that are all very good - these v28 Milwaukees are nearly as good and so much more convenient. I bought the V28's about 10 months ago, and none of the corded tools have been used since. I'm a pretty aggressive home user, so I can't comment on their use by a contractor - however I use them hard enough to know whether they're good. And, I've used the batteries enough to know they are excellent. Some of the early battery reviews here made me put off buying the v28's for about a year - which was a mistake on my part.
So here are my thoughts about the tools:
Hammer Drill - It's overkill for most jobs. It's big, and heavy and powerful. I used the hammer function for about three hours straight one time I was cleaning out a container that had hardened sand in it. Sand got everywhere. I burned up 5 drill bits loosening the stuff. My arm went numb. I went through three batteries. The drill didn't even slow down. The drill did get mighty hot to the touch which is my only complaint with it. If you're just driving screws, it's way overpowered, but it'll drive deck screws all day on a single charge.
Sawsall - Surprisingly, this is the worst tool in the kit. It vibrates a lot, and it just doesn't seem to be as well balanced and cut nearly as well as my Tiger saw. It works OK, and is certainly convenient, but I actully thought about getting my corded saw out a while back - haven't even thought about it with the other tools.
Light - Works fine - this is where the batteries are really great - the light will run for hours on a charge.
Circular saw - Best tool in the kit. Powerful - goes a long time on a charge - it will cut 2x lumber easily. I cut up a big pile of used plywood so that it could be put into trash bags and discarded. I cut about a hundred 2x4's and the ergonomics and accuracy I think is better than my corded saw.
When I bought the kit, I went all out and bought the V28 bandsaw, the impact wrench, the three bay charger, the radio, and even the toolbox vacuum cleaner. Each one of these works well also. The impact wrench is awesome - and is used so much it already looks 10 years old. It made easy work of changing the struts on a car recently. The vac is a mini shop vac - really convenient and useful all over the house.
I'm quite happy with these tools. If they broke or were stolen I would replace them immediately.
