| Customer Reviews: It doesn't separate November 17, 2009 Y. Cho (Columbus, OH) Bought this cyclone separator with a hope that majority of dust being separated and subsequently saves filter life. After using 6 months, the result is very disappointing. It separates only relatively big wood pieces and most of dust directly goes into the shopvac filter. Whenever I empty the shopvac, I noticed the dust collector bucket is solight because it is about 25% or less full. In addition, the collector bucket is so light that it easily falls down to the floor and the bottom dust is blown to the shopvac and clogges filter right away. Past six months, I've never felt this collector really helps my dust collection at all. Finally threw it to the trash can.
Handy shop vac aid October 6, 2008 Geoffrey de Runtz (Genoa, Nevada United States) I have had one of these taking up space in my shop for quite awhile. It seem to me that it took just as much time and effort to empty the 5 gallon bucket several times as emptying the shop vac once. Then an idea hit. I had rescued a 5 gallon mud bucket from a job site. It had a lid on it. So I took both buckets and cut the bottoms out. Then I turned them around and slid one bucket into the other and duct taped the joint. The bucket lid is now the bottom of the twin bucket set up. Now it has double the capacity! I agree with another review that you still got to clean the shop vac filter often but this set up does delay that necessity a little longer. I usually just bang the shop vac a few times and that helps shake out most of the dust from the filter to extend the interval between cleanings.
Dust collector May 14, 2008 Terry Stroup 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
The dust collector works as advertised. It keeps large items from entering the vacuum. I use it for woodworking and had hoped it was going to keep the filter from plugging up with fine dust, but it doesn't.
