Poor case and liner October 21, 2009 Wedemay (Marin County, CA) 0 out of 8 found this review helpful
I was quite excited seeing and using tool on the job site,a cabinet installer recommended it to me.
I did not examine his case carefully so i was EXTREMELY disappointed in the poor design, engineering, and materials used in the production of the case.
To start from the outside, the shiny silver covering reminiscent of abs high impact plastic is actually a thin Mylar like film which arrived dented, bubbled and apparently detached from the substrate. The corner reinforcements are purely decorative, and what rigidity the case does have seems to be provided by the thin aluminum frame.
When i opened the case i was further disappointed. the foam is not high density and the tools are not held in the case securely, which is the entire reason for a case. . .
While an empty box is good for packing in drill indexes and accessories, this so called case, appears to protect the tools while in actuality, leaves the tools loose to rattle around with out interior stays or matching foam to hold the drill/drivers in place, on the top half of the case.
Regardless of the fact the "drill" does not come with a chuck (hello open your eyes) or that the product information is poorly written and on the cheapest newsprint i have ever seen, lacking diagrams or part indexes.
I immediately returned the tool for refund.
I'm hoping to have better luck with the Panasonic, i understand they build the motors for Makita, and certifiably in my experience, engineer the cases much better with actual thought as well as quality.
It is not for driving deck screws September 30, 2009 John Samadi (Florida) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I received the driver and impact drill, was advertised as brand new but were used. Drove me crazy with its very slow speed, lack of torque and discharge time when I tried to drive deck screws. It is good for electronics but not carpentry. Had to use my Milwaukee 14.4 (I find this better than its 18v)Nicad, frequently charging it, though.
small but powerful September 12, 2009 Eugene Tardie (Vermont, USA) I was quite surprised by how much I liked these. They are well balanced and have a surprising amount of power. I liked them so much I bought one for my dad for his birthday, he loved them.
Great Product September 1, 2009 Raymond G. Drysdale (Texas) Excellent Product very well constucted powerful, light and battery power is enough to get the job done.
Very Light with Comfort and Cool Battery charge August 5, 2009 Jose Valdez (USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I'm tired of my Dewalt being so heavy and I own 2 already. This time it's Makita. I'm very pleased with it, that I can even stash it in my back pocket when I'm on a 8 Ft ladder. The little Impact gun has great tork for what I need it for. It surprised the XXX out of me.
