I spent days reading reviews of the pros and cons of this sander. I have found that most of the positive reviews were fair and realistic. I bought the 37 piece Sonic Crafter to help refinish a dining room table and chair set. I needed to get into some pretty tight spaces. I am more than pleased with the job it is doing. The variable speed is a nice option to have for those delicate areas that need a little more care. Some reviews talked about the tightening mechanism coming lose. I used it for several hours and have had that happen only once and the fix is so easy it really wasn't a big issue. The key to realizing that you need to tighten the screw is when you notice the sander isn't taking off as much material as it should. If the sanding pad is still good check and tighten the screw.

Great tool. It took me 2 days to take grout out of a shower, and I thought it would take 2 weeks. I am looking forward to its other uses.

I have already used it on repairs. It to the place of my detail sander and roto zip. It saved me from having to get out many different tools.

Ihave used both the Fein Multimaster and the Rockwell Sonicrafter (which I now own). They are both excellent tools. The only thing different about them is the tool-less blade changing on the Fein; the Sonicrafter requires an allen wrench, which stores on the cord. This makes the Fein a bit more convenient, but also twice the cost of the Sonicrafter. All other things being equal, I bought the Sonicrafter and I absolutely love it and I'm glad to have saved over $200. The Sonicrafter blades are much cheaper than the Fein's,too. I don't know how I EVER lived without this tool - it's that good.
