Amazon.com Review Small shop? Limited budget? That doesn't mean you have to give up on owning a jointer. This Shopmaster model is perfect for either situation but still packs features for precision woodworking. Variable speed offers 6,000 to 11,000 rpm, adjustable at the touch of a dial; infeed and outfeed tables adjust smoothly and easily. Though the 30-inch bed is shorter than stationary models, you aren't losing anything in width, because the JT160's cutting capacity is a full 6-1/8 inches. The fence, shorter and lighter, of course, than stationary models, tilts 0 to 45 degrees outward for beveling and chamfering operations. Positive stops are at 45 and 90 degrees. One sure advantage over its big brothers: the JT160 weighs just 35 pounds. Its cutterhead uses two knives rather than three, and the knives level with an easy-to-adjust jackscrew. Rubber base pads keep this little fellow where you want him, and if you want a permanent home for it, a stand is available. --Kris Jensen-Van Heste

Needed to be shimmed... November 23, 2008 Jonathan C. Magee I have a few Delta tools and I was surprised of the poor "accuracy" of this product. The in feed table was not completely flat with the outfeed table at zero clearance and needed to be shimmed in order to get an accurate "flat" jointed edge; disappointed to say the least from a Delta tool. All in all, after the hassle during set up with the shimming, it does have decent construction and provides as a good small shop jointer for under $300.
poor quality October 30, 2008 Daryn Kiely (Las Vegas, NV USA) I bought this unit and tried to set things up so everything was flush and true only to discover that the infeed table was badly warped. I took it in for service and they had the gall to charge me for repairs. The fence is horrible. I am really sorry I bought this thing and will never purchase another delta tool.
Could it be a hit-and-miss item? July 1, 2008 Randy W. Heckman (Kingsburg, CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I was really concerned about purchasing this jointer because of the high amount of negative reviews. However, with my limited space and budget, I didn't have much of a choice. I went ahead and bought it and I have been pleasantly surprised! The jointer set up in a manner of minutes. The fence is not the best thing that I have ever seen, but it only took me about three minutes to get it square. I only plan on jointing ninety degree edges, so the fence issues don't really bother me. I like the control knobs and switches. The product feels like higher quality that the $197 that I spent (sorry Amazon, not purchased here...). I am wondering if it's kind of luck-of-the-draw item...see what you are going to get when you open the box. I think that if you are looking for a small price and a space saver, you will be happy with this jointer!
Awesome Benchtop Jointer June 22, 2008 D. Alexander (Central Florida) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is the second Delta benchtop jointer I've owned and I love it. It takes up little more space than a briefcase and yet does a great job. A certain amount of care is necessary when jointing long pieces, due to the short table length, but anyone buying this item will know that going in. It is a well engineered and solidly constructed piece of equipment that does a great job.
