Amazon.com Review With the Black & Decker Leaf Hog, you can clean up both the deck and the lawn with one reasonably priced and easy-to-maintain machine. This blower/vac is electric, so it requires an extension cord and an electric outlet to run, but there's nothing else to set up or maintain. The 12 amp motor has considerable power for its size, more than enough to clear driveways or decks or blow off sections of lawn. At just over 7 pounds, the Leaf Hog is light enough to use for long periods of time, and it's also quiet enough to use at any time of day. Switching from blowing to vacuuming is a snap--literally. The correct button took us a moment to find, but once you've located it, you simply depress it and remove the blowing unit, then attach the vacuum extension in its place. The extension has a bag for mulch, which attaches with a small clasp. When vacuuming, the unit mulches by sucking leaves through the fan assembly. Though this model, with its patented Vortex anticlog vacuum system, does a better job of remaining unclogged than most, you still need to be careful to avoid rocks and sticks. It also has a variable-speed control that lets you choose between 150 and 200 mph blower speed.
Amazon.com Product Description Powerful, efficient, and easy-to-use, this three-in-one blower, vacuum, and mulcher helps clear off your yard, patio, deck, and walkways--even wet leaves and twigs are no match for this heavy-duty tool. Operation is simple: to switch from blowing to vacuum mode, just press the push-button. And you'll never have to worry about clogs slowing you down, thanks to the vacuum's Vortex system. Additionally, the BV2500 condenses 10 bags of raked leaves into just one bag of mulched leaves and works quietly, making yard work more pleasant. For added peace of mind, it comes with a 2-year warranty.

Not worth November 24, 2009 J. A. Sassano (northeast) Not worth the money or effort, it constantly clogs up, so you need to constantly unclog it. I rather rake and pick the leaves up myself, it's quicker....
Decent Blower/Vac November 19, 2009 R. Kintz (Ohio) The only bad thing that I can say is that this is my second one. When we got the original one out this year, it would not start, it appears that the switch is bad. Since leaves were piling up fast, I came here and ordered a new one. The shipping was quick, I was back at the leaves 2 days later.
I have the optional trashcan attachment, it really makes vaccing up leaves less of a hassle.
poor quality July 27, 2009 pulsar (MN USA) They are good for two uses tops. My first one burt up a motor in 15 minutes. The second made it to the second chore before the motor burnt up again.
Excellent tool for the money June 16, 2009 John Ziola (No. IL) Although my BV2500 has developed the major problem cited in many reviews,it took more than 10 years of high volume leaf vacuuming before it failed. Had 1/2 acre with many trees (60 plus) now have 1/3 acre with several. It did as good a job as any homeowner line of tools could be expected to. No tears in the shoulder bag although 99% of the time I use the leaf collection system and no noticable impeller wear (of course I didn't try to vacuum any items that it wasn't intended for (rocks large twigs etc.), Silly old me, I try to use a tool for what it is intended (leaves). Will I buy another? You bet I just ordered one today, and if it only lasts several years I'm still way ahead, at $54.00 Amazon) no tax and free delivery. Use it for what it is and take care of it as you would all your other tools.
Mulching? What mulching? December 20, 2008 R. A. Stine (San Mateo, CA) Earlier reviews complained about difficulty in finding a button for mulching. I guess they were right; I couldn't find one. The instructions just say the leaves will be mulched as they go through the impeller.
After vacuuming a bunch of leaves and dumping them into a recycle bin, I couldn't really see any evidence of mulching.
The blower and vacuum work very well, however. Don't make the mistake of trying to vacuum leaves from loose dirt; you'll suck up a lot of dirt. Blow the leaves into a pile and then vacuum them.
Still, I like this tool. It's much quieter and easier to use than my gas blower.
