Worth a try if you've never used these! February 27, 2010 Grill Master (Albany, NY) If you have never tried these when grilling, you really should. Helps maintain your coals and assists with cooking.
New Charcoal Holders are great. January 19, 2010 I. R Yumori (San Diego, CA USA) I got the old style wire charcoal holders with my Weber Performer six years ago. Last year, they were all warped and corroded and I needed to replace them. I was disappointed that they have been replaced by sheet metal holders that didn't look as sturdy.
I got them anyhow and I am really pleased by how well they work. Charcoal briquets start much quicker and the holders hold about 20% more charcoal.
I was testing my ignitor and only let the flame burn for about 10 seconds, but it still was able to get my charcoal going accidentally!

I have'nt used it yet but the constuction looks okay and should hold up. They are a little bigger than what I wanted (I have the 18.5" grill) but thats ok.
Do you really need them? July 11, 2009 Mark J. Anderson 1 out of 5 found this review helpful
Weber makes great stuff, but do you really need these? Just bank all the coals on one side of the kettle and put the meat on the other. Position the lid with the vent opposite the coals. Perfecto-mundo
Or put your money into Smokenator 1000 Transforms 22-inch Weber Kettle's Into Smokers In the words of Fred Flintstone, "Yabba dabba ...." I forgot. Yabba dabba something.
Very pleased with product!! July 6, 2009 Cookiemonster (Detroit, MI.) We used these Charcoal Holders in our new Weber grill and they worked great!! We followed the indirect cooking method, and these holders keep the coals neat and separated to allow for the water pan to be placed in the middle without any problem. The holders are highly recommended for anyone using the indirect cooking method, or if you just want to keep the coals on one side of the grill without much effort. Thanks!!
