 Malfunctioned after a year November 14, 2009

Worked nicely for first 6 months although outdoor humidity was always inaccurate. Later temperature readings went beserk reading 30 degrees low and after a reset, reading 30 degrees high. Finally the remote quit totally. A disappointment considering it's not a cheap gadget.

I like this unit very much. I liked it in that
it gives both indoor, and outdoor humidity readings.
That is very nice for Florida living, where the inside and
outside humidity can vary a great deal.
I like the other features, such as outdoor heat index readings.
I think it is a good value and a great unit.

This is a reliable instrument, but the instructions are somewhat difficult to follow. I still have not been able to use the atomic clock function. Also, the screws on the back were difficult to remove when we needed to install the batteries.
Works well but does not have any backlight feature !! October 23, 2009

All the weather station functions work well so far I would have gave it 5 stars but it does not have a HiGlo(tm) electro-luminescent backlight as claimed in the discription !!

I went ahead and purchased this Oregon Scientific BAR688HGA wireless weather station after reading alllllllll the reviews here -- pros and cons. I'm really pleased with this weather station.
The setup was very easy, particularly for the time zone. All of the other instructions were straight-forward as well. The instruction booklet is in a handy size for storage; however, if one has "over 50" eyes, you'll need your reading glasses due to the small print. Have had NO problems with the atomic clock receiving signals either.
ONE CAVEAT: You need a special Phillips head screwdriver to open the battery compartment on the remote sensor. It needs to be the very, very tiny type, like what's used for crafts or models.
For me, the main unit's display is informational and NOT busy or cluttered. After reading the instructions, I've mounted the outdoor temp probe on the north side of my home. WOW .. weather forecasts and temps are amazingly accurate !!! Ditto for indoor temperature and humidity levels. I own two other atomic clocks with just the temperature feature and this Oregon Scientific matches them. The barometic pressures are in sync with what the local weather people display on the TV. I've found it to be a variance of approximately "point 1 or .10) which is, IMHO, reasonable considering we're not talking about sophisticated weather channel equipment.
Very, very good weather station -- I have no qualms recommending this to others.
