This item was very poorly welded from the factory such that it wobbled and was unuseable.

I have several Shopsmith Mark V's, a miter saw, etc, etc. Frequently I need (and my neighbor's need!) a way to support the end of a board as the board is being cut or otherwise worked on. An adjustable pedestal roller such as this one is really an essential to any shop. You don't use it all the time but, when you need it, you need it!
Using a pedestal roller to support the free end of a board you are working on is both a very valuable aid and a safety feature. The HTC products work well - it is easily adjustable in height, the roller rolls freely and it is reasonably stable.
