Great product March 15, 2010 Holly Red (Nederland, TX USA) This product was easy to install and has made a huge difference in the temperatures of the rooms. Stay with the name brand. It is worth the little extra money. You will make up that money in saved energy costs.
Window insulator kit March 3, 2010 John P Kerr Works like a champ. Bought extra double sided tape on a recommendation from review that tape in kit sometimes does not work well. I did not need to. Tape in kit work fine. I am slowly replacing my single panes with insulated windows. Putting the insulation film on the old windows really makes a huge difference!
No Problems - Worked like it should January 31, 2010 OfTheSun54 (North Attleboro, MA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
While pricer than competitors, this is the only product that actually worked this year. The plastic is thicker and the tape sticky. I tried Frost King this year but their thin plastic did not stick to the tape. They must have used a new supplier and didn't bother with quality control. I'm "sticking" with 3M from now on.
Easy to use January 31, 2010 David Clark (Crestview, FL) The northside of the house where my children's windows are were always so cold this winter so we looked into this to offer a buffer. The product is awesome! Easy to use and put up. Simple - it is on a folded up roll where you just cut out the basic widths to cover a 3by5 window as the length is fixed. Simply cut the tape to ring the window, open up the film and pull it tight along the tape. Then you merely reposition it to tighten it up. It is unbelievably clear that you would not recognize it is actually on the window unless you went up to touch it. The only item I caution on is using the hairdryer to smooth it out. Obviously the heat "shrinks" it tight but if you put to much heat over the film it will tighten up to much and put to much strain at the tape eventually pulling it self loose. Go easy on the hairdryer! LOL I am now comfortable leaving this in place to see what effect it will have come summer.
Window Insolation Results January 21, 2010 Phillip H. Ramsey I purchased 2 kits of the 3M 2142W, window insloator kits. I got the insulator put up just before the extreme cold we have had here in Florida. I was absolutely amazed at the difference the insulator made in the interior temperatures in my home. I would recommed this product to anyone that does not have double pane windows.
