I put this item in my back yard to deter raccoons from getting too close to my chicken coop. It wouldn't even make my small dog, cats or even the local deer flinch. I relocated it, changed the volume and kept it out there for two weeks and still nothing. Funny it bothered my husband's ears but not the critters. Don't waste your time buying this, I returned mine.

We seem to be the only family on the block who doesn't have a dog so all the other dogs in the neighborhood decided ours is the pooping yard. In a short while, after we put this out on our front porch we decided it was working; no sudden shocking wafts of poopie-air on leaving the front door. The only thing weird about it is that one (very rainy) day it started making a nasty human-audible squealing sound; we had to grab it and pull the batteries out. Not sure if this is a "battery low" sound or what, but it was pretty bad. Otherwise, it seems worth the time and money we spent getting it here. No offensive smells lately. When we get a chance we'll change the batteries and see if that was the problem. Hope so.

This did not work for me. I set it up to protect against a raccoon who frequents our backyard. This did not deter the raccoon. I followed the directions and put it up in manual (always-on mode). Also the high pitched sound bothered my kids who were able to hear it even from inside the house.

This model works fine on animals with a distance of 20+ yrds without any obstacles or constructions in between. It does not work on birds since I aimed the birds on the tree about 20 ft. away and nothing happened.

This is really a waste of money. I bought this because of a family of racoons living under my deck. It did not seem to bother them or the chipmunks that frequent my deck. I tried adjusting frequency but nothing worked and now after a couple of weeks all that works is the red light with no sound. The only one this machine bothered was my son.
