Product Description
This is a working Stirling cycle Scotch yoke engine. The completed model is 8 1/4" long, 3 7/8" wide, and 5 3/8" tall. The base is 12 1/4" long 6 3/8" wide. This kit includes the wooden base. These assembly kits are not strictly bolt-together kits. Some parts press together (an arbor press is the correct tool, but with care you can use a vise).

I knew right off the bat that I would have to press a few parts together, which I did fine. One thing they don't tell you to do is that you have to drill a few holes in the wooden base, which isn't that hard either. I put it together within a few hours. A few screws stripped, which I wasn't happy about. It is two of the key's which lock the rods into place. One on the piston, and one on the flywheel. I used some super glue to hold them into place. The plastic piston cover on top is very cloudy when you pull it out of the packaging. I used some light duty oil on the inside, and it cleared right up(It looks like it in the picture). Becareful when you are assembling the head. It is tricky aligning up the 3 parts(Head, aluminum block, and black stand). Make sure to oil everything very well before use.
I filled up the alcohol lamp, lit it, and waited a few more minutes(I had the wick very low) than specified in the directions before I spun the flywheel. It works. Slowly, but it works. It might have run longer, if I filled more alcohol in the lamp and had a higher wick to begin with.
It is very nice to look at. I know people will ask when they see it on the shelf.
