A very well made router table November 23, 2008 Guanyin J. Wang (San Francisco, CA USA) Although the fence, from my point of view, is not so perfect. However, overall, the router table is very good. The cast iron table let me make extension table and other accessories around it. The table surface is flat. Because of its sturdiness, using a 3 1/4 hp router, I can do a lot of routing jobs. It is a good companion for shaper.
Very solid... October 18, 2008 Greenwing (Newnan, GA USA) This is a great setup...Top of the line...I got this because of the cast iron table top which adds excellent stability to the table...This thing weighs 200 pounds when assembled...The included 3hp PC Router is very nice also... Instructions were zeroxed pages of paper, but acceptable...It does take a few hours to assemble and fine tune... I give it 5 stars...
Great Product June 9, 2008 A. Turner (Dallas, TX) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
The Bench Dog router table is by far the best table I reviewed prior to purchase. It is a heavy-duty table with all the features I'll ever need. The cast iron top was a large selling point for me. Assembly instuctions were clear, all the required parts were included, and the assembly process went smoothly.
Almost a perfect system May 28, 2008 bubinga (west) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is a nice system with great features but there are a few things that I wish were better. Below are my impressions of the various items that came with the system after a week of use. - Cast iron router table: is beautiful and flat, did not notice much vibration at all with the PC 7518 router. The end cap fit perfectly and extended the cast iron table 4 more inches. Who doesn't want more cast iron? - Router plate: For the price they should have included the aluminum version and inserts. The phenolic version that came with the system is okay but only a 2" opening and without any inserts. I was planning to use my existing raise panel bit but it is 3.5" in diameter. Going to have to buy a different plate. - Router: PC 7518, need I say more? Powerful and built like a tank, 3-1/4HP with 5 speed controls. Typically one would buy this powerful of a router to make things like raised panels, and typical horizontal panel bits are 2"+ inches in size... Yes, the router plate bothered me a little bit. - Cab-Loc Casters: Nice and sturdy, great to aid in leveling the router table, but it's does not have a quick release mechanism like most mobile bases. You have to loosen the threaded rods until the casters are supporting the weight before you can move the base. - ProMax Cabinet: Nice design and layout; Would be better if they use birch plywood throughout, not just for the sides. The insides and the backing is made from particleboard with melamine. I damaged one of the hole of the particleboard tightening the cross dowel too tight. - ProFence: Serve its purpose well, allows me to do what I need to do. Aluminum fence, comes with a bit guard, dust collection attachment, and aluminum shimming rods for router jointing. - Installation Manual: What manual? There are bad quality printouts for the various items. Some steps refers you to the black and white pictures that you can barely make out. Overall I like the form, fit, and function of this system but for the price teir a few things could have been better.
